Immediate starters from the waiver wire!
This section is the last of three that hopefully will provide you with a little help in determining your playoff roster for week 1 (NFL Week 15). This topic is always a challenging one as many feel that your regular roster players were the ones that put you into the position of the playoffs in the first place. Although, due to injuries, coaching changes (Pig Suey!), weather and terrible match ups; owners sometimes have no other choice than to play someone off waivers.
If you trust someone off waivers to move them right into your lineup, you should be almost certain that your bench or current roster players are of no help. Putting someone off waivers right into your starting squad should be a last hope of desperation as your current players have little or no value to you to use for the upcoming game. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK WEATHER REPORTS BEFORE EXECUTING A WAIVER MOVE (I can't stress this enough). We are in December and if you have a match up that is not indoors, you always have a risk of poor conditions. Early reports out of Heinz Field (Steelers home)and Gillette Stadium (Patriots home) report 60%-70% percent of snow flurries and strong winds anywhere from 20-30 miles an hour. This is not good!!! Especially for your starters in the passing game as it looks as if throwing and catching in this weather might be difficult!
You might want to think twice before dropping a player on your roster who is indoors or playing in San Diego, Oakland or Florida. December games are very difficult to predict and it would be almost completely stupid to add a player who has a higher percentage of bad targets over a player who has a much better chance of completing passes or catches. On the other hand, running backs in the bad weather games might prove more valuable, but they still will have to deal with the elements.
"Start your studs" as they have gotten you this far, but be careful as they might completely disappoint you when the game clock fizzles out.
If you think that your current bench player (or a player you have stuck with for most of the year can get it done) you will feel good about yourself when they pull through for you. But of course that guy who you didn't pick up and start could go ballistic and at that point you want to hit something as you feel like you screwed your season!!
ISN'T FANTASY FUN!!! THIS IS A GAME OF CHANCES AND LUCK! No matter what you do you will never know if you have made the right decision until after all is said and done. Either you will be in the money for next weeks finals, or its time to shotgun a few beers and start digging into baseball news. There is a lot of baseball to follow now and many owners will use this as a release of aggression they feel for blowing their fantasy hopes and dreams!
IT IS ONLY FANTASY!!! Hopefully your favorite NFL team will still be in the hunt, if not, Jai Lai is a great upcoming sport!
DON'T FORGET TO SET YOUR LINEUPS SOON AS THURSDAY NIGHT GAMES ARE RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER!
